24 Hour Simran Program
Since 1984 sangat of Gurdwara Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khas began a continuous simran naam japna program. This was to give strength to the whole sikh panth at a time when many were suffering in the holocaust within Amritsar.Gursikhs decided that the best way to support our brothers and sisters was to jap naam. The seva has ran since then with sangat taking one or two hour slots through out the day and having regular simran duties through out the week. If anybody would like to participate in the simran seva please go to the ‘get in touch’ option at the top of the page and I will pass message to sewadars. It is important that all people take part in this wonderful opportunity to sit near to your Guru within the Gurdwara Sahib and forget about your worries and your strife. Naam japna is the continued recitation of “waheguru waheguru”. The seva has ran for nearly 30 years and a total of over 250,000 hours of simran have been recited! By Guru’s Grace this has been possible.
Reciting Waheguru is the remembrance of God by repeating and focussing the mind on His name or identity. The names given to God primarily refer to the attributes of the Almighty and His various qualities. The guideline in the Rehat Maryada of Guru Gobind Singh Ji demands that a Sikh engages in Naam Simran as part of his or her everyday routine.
This concept is also reflected in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the way in which humans can conquer ego, greed, attachment, anger and lust, together commonly called the five evils or five thieves and to bring peace and tranquillity into ones mind.
Please contact Karnail Singh Ji on 07801431855 to join in with the simran seva…. there are plenty of duties for all.
